CES 2011, Motorola ATRIX

Hello friends and welcome back to my blog. I am excited to introduce you guys to a very interesting gadget that was introduced during the CES 2011 Las Vegas (Consumer Electronics Show). Let me introduce you to the Motorola ATRIX.



This new baby was one of the biggest excitements during the CES 2011. Before I start with the specs of the Motorola ATRIX, one important fact is that the phone has a laptop dock. The dock is simply a system to which you can connect your phone and it becomes a laptop. Interestingly, the laptop dick looks like a very thin laptop but it actually consists of only a Screen and the battery. Once the phone is connected, the phone’s processor supports the laptop and that is how the laptop dock functions. Once the phone is connected to the dock, you will have a fully functional Firefox web-browser with full flash support.






Now the specs of the phone are s intriguing as the laptop dock system. The Motorola ATRIX has the new generation of Dual Core NVIDIA Tegra 1 GHz Processor. This processor brings phone gaming to a much higher level. Furthermore, the phone is equipped with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal flash memory. On top of that, the ATRIX supports up to 32GB Micro SDHC card which can surely hold thousands of pictures made with the pretty impressive 5 Mega Pixel Camera and a Front Facing VGA camera. It also records 720p (1280 x 720) video at 30 FPS and it encompasses a LED flash. The screen is a 4.0 inch qHD and the resolution is 540 x 960 pixels. The Motorola ATRIX is also equipped with an HDMI output and the phone will be equipped with Android v2.2.1 (Froyo), although many users are hopeful that the phone will eventually be shipped with the Gingerbread update v2.3.

How to Install Android OS on HD2

Hello everyone! Due to a crazy busy schedule, I have not posted anything for a really long time. However, I plan to fix this right now!
I finally got the HD2 ( AKA Leo ) quite some time ago and was waiting for the time when I can put Android OS on this beautiful piece of technology so we can utilize its powers, and believe me - the powers are there...
Well thanks to the great developers at xda-developers.com, the solution to install Android OS on our HD2 devices is finally here. The only drawback, if one can say its a drawback, is that the Android OS runs from your SD card. Yes, it is possible and it actually has its benefits over installing Android OS directly to the internal memory of the phone, replacing the current Windows Mobile OS. The NAND development( this is the internal memory of the phone ) so Android can be placed directly onto the memory of the phone, is still work in progress and no ETA has been announced but I will post it here once it is publicly released.
Now a few important things before I start. Installing Android on your SD card should not create any problems due to the fact that it does not touch your internal flash memory. Plain and simple, you download an Android rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735 ( xda-developers are responsible for all the development and all gratitude and congratulations should go to them as I have no contribution to the development except my posting here to inform you of it). Choose one of the different roms. You can choose a Desire Rom running android 2.1 or a Froyo based rom running Android 2.2 . My personal choice is [BUILD][21.09.2010][mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.8][Kernel: 2.6.32.15 #5]by spimonkey34 as it has proven to be stable and the Froyo is simply fantastic.
How to install it:

1. Download a build to your computer from http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735 .
2. Extract the files onto your computer and you should end up with 2 files: one is readme.txt and the other one is a folder Android.
3. Copy the Android folder to the root of your sd card (what this means is that as soon as you open the SD card folder, just paste it there, not in any other folder already made on you SD card.
4. Download this application http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733752 , which basically will allow you to choose (once you restart the pc) whether you would like to run android or windows mobile. After you choose the Android option, just wait for the funny writings, and then you will see the android screen. It may take a little while when android loads at first, but after that it won`t take as much every time you run it again. To revert back to windows, simply restart the phone and choose windows. Again, none of this is my works. I am simply explaining to you how to run android on your HD2 aka Leo. All development is done by the developers at xda-developers.com, and all appreciations should go to them.

HTC EVO 4G comming to Sprint Summer 2010

Well, that is how business is done, people! At the Mobile World Congress, Sprint announced that they are bringing something better to the market - HTC EVO 4G running on Android 2.1 OS with SENSE UI on top.( the latest Android OS upgrade ).








The interesting thing is that they announced this concurrently with T-Mobile as they just started selling the HD2. Many users who have already bought HTC HD2, are somewhat regretting it, but only to a certain extent. The Specs of the EVO are similar to HD2.


EVO specs 4.80 x 2.60 x 0.50 inches (122 x 66 x 13 mm)
HTC HD2 specs 4.76 x 2.64 x 0.43 inches (121 x 67 x 11 mm)

As you can see, EVO is a little longer and thicker than HD2, but the HD2 is wider.
While the HTC EVO supports Sprint's 4G network, it is equipped with the same huge screen as the HD2 - 4.3 CAPACITIVE touch screen. The processor of the EVO is 1GZ Qualcomm Snapdragon ( same as HD2 ). However, HTC EVO will have only 512 MB of RAM compared to 576 MB of RAM on HTC HD2, but both devices are equipped with 1GB of ROM.
HTC EVO is equipped with a mini HDMI output with which you can directly plug your phone to your High Definition TV and you will be seeing everything that is happening on your phone directly to your TV with 720p picture! The EVO also supports 720p Video Capturing with the Impressive 8.0 megapixel camera, and not surprisingly it has a secondary camera on the front panel facing you with a 1.3 megapixel sensor. The phone also has a stand so you will be able to watch all your movies in landscape mode and you won`t have to find stuff to put behind your phone in order for it to stay straight ( I have this problem with my G1 phone and it is aggravating! ). Sprint claims that with 4G HTC EVO will reach 10x faster speeds than 3G.
What people are currently debating is whether Sprint will hold to their promise that they will expand the 4G coverage around the US, as currently it is only possible in several metropolitan areas. This is a significant drawback for people debating whether to buy the HD2 now or wait until the Summer when Sprint will begin EVO's sales. Here is a demo of the phone provided by CNET. I must say that phone is pretty amazing... I really don`t know whether I prefer the HD2 or EVO.... I guess only time will show, but lets not forget that there are new phones coming out almost every 2-3 Months! I will be providing you with some more news on possible future devices with the NVIDIA TEGRA 2 Processor, which NVIDIA claims to be 4 times faster than the 1GZ Snapdragon Processor. HTC HD2 (aka LEO) is in the house!

Hello to all you guys! It is March 24 and you know what date is today? HTC HD2 is finally in the stores! I just came back from the T-Mobile store at the mall and I must say, WOW! This is the first time that I held a HTC HD2 phone and I have to agree with all the users out there on the web stating how great that phone is from first hand experience. Although I would not advice this phone to a female, because of the size of the phone, the phone is simply amazing! The screen is HUGE and so sensitive. The speed of the Qualcomm Processor is incredible! You cannot really notice the RAM memory until you run enough applications (as RAM memory only counts for how many apps you can run simultaneously, while the processor actually gives you the phone speed and responsiveness). I could not actually test the web browsing experience or youtube playing as the store just recently put the HD2 out on display and haven`t set it up yet. However, I checked the video playback and I was simply amazed at the experience which the HD2 gives us. It is almost as you are watching the movie on a little portable DVD player. The keyboard is very sensitive and as I am not used to to the virtual keyboard, as my G1 has a real keyboard, I must say that it is very easy to write on the virtual keyboard on this 4.3 inch screen.
I saw a post on the web, where a person claimed that only after two hours since T-Mobile released the phone for sale he couldn't`t find the HD2 anywhere, because it was SOLD OUT! WoW... Well of course, this happened with the G1, and in my opinion it is all a well played business game played by T-Mobile. Since people will start chatting how popular the phone is that only after 2 hours of sale, all the phones in stock were sold out. Thus, people will be thinking how great this device must be then, and they will decide to buy it. HOWEVER, this does not change the fact that the HD2 is currently the BEST PHONE EVER sold in stores. I say best phone every sold in stores, because another GREAT and innovative device is coming from Sprint, that will be a direct opposition to the HD2. Please read the post above with all the details regarding this new device coming to Sprint in the Summer of 2010.

I wanted to share an interesting fact. I just noticed that WALMART sells the HD2 for $99 after $200 rebate + new contract! Woah! That is a pretty gash darn good deal. Also, www.wirefly.com sells the phone for the same price, but I am not sure how they do business with customers, since I have not dealt with them before. I advice you to do your research before chosing a place to buy it from!
